Day 4 in Thailand: Dinner River Cruise (7/18/2008, part 2 of 2)

Rene texted me that they were already at the Mochit Skytrain station waiting for us. We asked the tuktuk driver if he can take us there directly instead of taking a taxi from Chin Jewelry. However he said he can only take us up to Victory Monument. We accepted. We paid him more for his waiting and taking us there. From there we took the Skytrain back to Mochit. In our haste we didn't notice that we rode the train going the opposite direction.

It was at the 1st stop that we realized this and Mae and Orfa were able to get out of the train. Me and Anne were supposed to follow but the doors already closed. We got separated as a result so Anne and I turned around at the next stop. We can't help but laugh at ourselves.

When we got off at the next stop, an Indian Sikh (he was wearing a turban) whom we passed by the stairs took a second look at us and told us something in Thai. We told him we don't speak Thai and he told us in English that our face looks shiny. I was thinking maybe because of sweat and oil =). And he said we're both lucky. He told me in particular that I am very lucky. He said something about having many boyfriends and then saying two love me but I only love one. He then tells us that he is a fortune teller. I wonder how he can see it and if it's true. Coz I only had one boyfriend and that is my husband but maybe he meant admirers. Hehe. Anne says maybe it has something to do with the aura. O well, another unusual and interesting encounter.

Finally we all met at the Mochit station and took the taxi to Riverside hotel where we will board the cruise ship. It was Anne who reserved us a table there. There are a lot of river cruise services available in Bangkok and at different rates. This one only cost THB100 per passenger for the cruise and the food is as you order.

We got a table right at the center of the dining area. If you can book a table at the deck that would be better so you can eat and see the view from there. We ordered dinner 1st and while waiting took some pictures around the cruise ship.

Nice view from here, good date place (pumose lang kami kasi di namin yan table)

Finally our order arrived. Here are some of the food we ate. We were already hungry so we were not able to shoot a picture of all the food.

Can't remember what we ordered but the above pic is their version of the atchara

All full and happy after dinner

After dinner we all went back to the deck for sightseeing.

Unfortunately my camera died on me while taking pictures. I misplaced my spare battery so I did not have a backup. There were still a lot of sights to see and take pictures of along the way. The travel time was all in all 2hours for the roundtrip. We went back to our table when the boat turned around. It was then that the dancing has started right in front of the stage. We danced to Thai dance tunes. The crew also sang a birthday song for someone beside our table who was also given a small cake. We gave them a lamp coz it was dark when they were slicing the cake and in return they gave us a slice. It was fun.

Make sure to pay the bill before the dance starts as it is already dark and noisy afterwards. We did pay ours before it started but we had some confusion with regards to the bill. Since the bill was in Thai, we assumed that we already paid everything. So when Rene and I rested from dancing and a waitress approached us to pay another bill I was surprised. We had to call Anne from the dance floor to talk because they cannot understand English and I can't understand what they're saying. It turns out the 1st bill we paid was incomplete. And the 2nd one is for other orders that were not paid yet. What Anne did was ask the waiter what each item was and wrote it down beside the Thai characters to understand. I guess they got a bit confused too (as they probably wrote the orders in different papers) because they failed to put them all in one bill.

Before going back to AIT, we stopped by a store again to buy some beer. Fortunately they were selling because the stores at AIT refuse to sell during the Buddhist holidays. We took a taxi going back. I did not join the late night bonding anymore as I was so tired and we had a scheduled tour at Ayutthaya the next day.
